Protector* Workstations, Labconco*
Designed for the needs of histologists and pathologists, these workstations rid the lab of dangerous organic solvent fumes, such as formaldehyde and xylene, and restore clean air. They meet the OSHA regulation on exposure to formaldehyde. Workstations are constructed of glacier white and gray, dry powder, epoxy-coated aluminum and steel. The sides and front sash are made of fire-, scratch-, and chemical-resistant 0.6cm ( 1/4") thick tempered safety glass. The sash is angled to provide a more comfortable operating position than a vertical sash. It has a 20.3cm (8") high opening, pivots upward, and locks at 50.8cm (20") for loading and cleaning. Containment-enhancing features include a patented ergonomic air foil with aerodynamic Clean-Sweep* airflow openings, upper containment sash foil, upper dilution air supply, side-entry air foils, and patented zone-perforated rear baffle. Other standard features include fluorescent lighting, utility ports with plugs for passing tubes and electrical cords to the outside, light and blower switches, and a rear-mounted electrical receptacle. Models 89000-166 and 89000-114 are designed for connection to a remote blower or house exhaust system and offer protection from a broad range of chemicals. These models are recommended when chemical concentrations are high, unknown, or unpredictable. Rectangular exhaust openings on the top and bottom measure 5.1x25.4cm (2x10") and allow the work station to be connected to the ductwork. These models may also be connected to a FilterMate* portable exhauster, (sold separately, see series 82010-632), to return filtered air to the laboratory. Protector workstations with a built-in blower to accommodate two large carbon filters for organic vapor, formaldehyde, and ammonia that can be used in any configuration. Carbon filters (89000-164 and 89000-168) are sold separately and keep concentrations of these chemicals below OSHA-recommended, time-weighted average levels. Charcoal gray work surfaces are fabricated from durable epoxy resins. They are designed to accept standard dissecting boards and dished to contain spills. Corrosion- and stain-resistant, surfaces are easy to clean and is available with a 25.4Lx35.6Wx15.2Dcm (10x14x6") molded epoxy sink (89000-170). The sink is preplumbed and ready to install. Both workstations feature the same working area and use the same dished work surface. Base stands are constructed of durable 4.5cm (1 3/4") tubular, glacier white epoxy-coated steel and support loads up to 453.6kg (1000lbs.). ADA-compliant. Telescoping base stands have telescoping legs that are adjustable from 69.9 to 85.1cm (27 1/2 to 33 1/2") high and are available with fixed leveling feet or 12.7cm (5") diameter toe-locking casters. Hydraulic lift base stands adjust from 64.8 to 85.1cm (25 1/2 to 33 1/2") high and include four powder-coated, die-cast feet with levelers. Feet can be replaced with casters for mobility. Manual hydraulic lift models include a front-accessible hand crank. Electric hydraulic lift models include a front-accessible up/down switch. Workstations are ETL listed, CSA certified, and CE marked. Electrical components of electric hydraulic stands are UL listed.
